Charles W. Richardson was born in Ohio around 1847. On April 5, 1865 Charles enlisted into the 43rd Illinois Infantry in Danville, IL. He was discharged on November 30th of the same year at Camp Butler, Illinois, thanks to the end of the war. He was a miller by trade, spending much of his adult life after the war in Cherokee, Iowa. In 1911, he was admitted to the Battle Mountain Sanitarium at the age of 64. According to his intake card, Charles was about 5’6” and had hazel eyes. He was widowed when he was admitted to Battle Mountain. His son, Wayne Richardson, lived in Rulo, Nebraska. Charles died in Hot Springs, South Dakota on November 22, 1913.
